PORT HARCOURT, Nigeria (AP) — A military spokesman says unidentified gunmen have kidnapped a Lebanese construction worker in Nigeria’s restive southern oil region.

Lt. Col. Sagir Musa of the military task force in the Niger Delta region said the worker was snatched Monday morning from the road project he was working on outside the city of Port Harcourt. Musa had no further details.

Over 200 foreign workers have been kidnapped in nearly three years of rising violence across southern Nigeria. The hostages are normally released after a ransom is paid.
