Politicians must pave the way to green energy
November 10th, 2008 - Posted in energy policyA report released in 2007 by the American Solar Energy Society reveals the truth about the renewable energy industry’s ability to stimulate job growth.
According to the study titled “Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency: Economic Drivers for the 21st Century,” the U.S. renewable energy industry generated $36.2 billion in revenue and created 196,000 direct and 452,000 indirect jobs in 2006 alone — numbers that have no doubt increased given growth in the industry.
Across the nation states are finding that growth in the renewable energy industry is increasing jobs and increasing state income. At the same time, renewable energy is translating into a savings for individuals on their electric bill, which can then be spent in other sectors such as food or retail.
