Chevron, Marathon Oil Corp, and Exxon Mobil Corp Gulf Coast Oil and Gas Production Reported Unharmed in Ida
November 11th, 2009 - Posted in Energy CompaniesHOUSTON, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ — Winning Strategies (www.winningstrategies.net) Editor Tim Connolly reported today that Tropical Storm Ida continues its weakness on landfall in the Gulf of Mexico and the National Hurricane Center now reports that all storm warnings have been discontinued as of 9:00 a.m. ET.
Major producers Chevron, Marathon Oil Corp, and Exxon Mobil Corp had temporarily shut down some production and evacuated some personnel as a precaution by late on Sunday. Industry sources now say that oil and gas production suffered no significant loss of production from the storm, as the National Hurricane Center reports further weakening of Ida this morning.
“With Ida’s continued weakening, most offshore oil rigs in the Gulf would not see any damage”, said Jim Rouiller, senior energy meteorologist at private forecaster Planalytics Inc. “I think that by tomorrow it will be normal operations across the production region,” Rouiller said on Monday.
